When Purity meets Perfection

As a mother, we always try to choose the right thing for our children and the right kind of products for our kids. In today’s times, it becomes very difficult to choose the best baby care product since the markets are full of innumerable brands. Apart from choosing the right brand, it is also difficult to choose the right products based on the ingredients.

There are two types of products based on the ingredients – 1) the natural products and 2) the chemical based ones. We all get scared when it comes to using a product which has “chemicals” in it. But don’t you think that almost every product has the presence of chemicals in it? Most importantly, have we ever wondered why are chemicals added into a product?

Look at, for instance, one of the most common things that we use daily – the pickles. Why are pickles really made and how are they made? Making pickles is basically a form of food preservation. Adding salt or sugar to food items protects it from getting spoiled due to the actions of bacteria or fungi. Even common salt is a chemical known as sodium chloride. We add it in almost every food item that we consume and it is a preservative!

Then, why do we get scared when we see sodium chloride written as an ingredient or a preservative in a market-based product?

When it comes to choosing baby care products we say that natural is better and chemicals are harmful. Every “natural” product needs chemicals to protect it from bacterial or fungal actions. The products are not safe to use if it does not have any kind of chemicals. If we ever look closely and try to understand the list of ingredients we will notice that it has a certain amount of chemical ingredients hidden under the use of another language. For instance, the natural products will have their ingredients listed in Sanskrit generating the impressions that the ingredients are only natural based and not chemicals.

Recently, I attended the launch event of the new range of Johnson’s Baby products. Johnson’s Baby Products have always been one of the safest products in terms of baby care. Their products are designed by highly qualified experts and go through the most stringent tests and safety levels. For the happiness of moms and to keep in sync with the changing times, they have updated and come up with the new range. The new range does not have any parabens, sulphates, dyes or phthalates. The ingredients are tested for 12 months. The new range is hypoallergenic and Ph Balanced. They are dermatologically tested for allergies.

The event was an eye-opening one. In the past, there have been several controversies about Johnson’s products as not being safe anymore. I really feel sad to know that a lack of awareness and media hype is tarnishing the image of a well-reputed brand that has been in the market for about 125 years.

The team of Johnson’s came upfront to answer all the queries of moms and told us how their products do not have asbestos or any carcinogens. Johnson’s Baby powder which has been under the greatest number of controversies has U.S. Pharmacopoeia grade talc to make sure that it meets the highest quality and purity.

Johnson’s have reduced the chemical ingredients in their products by 50% making them gentler and milder. The products are safer than before, upgraded to meet the evolving times and meet up the expectations of every mother who wants to choose gentle and milder products for her baby.

The launch event and the face to face interaction with the brand re-affirmed my faith and trust in Johnson’s. I can easily say that Johnson’s products were the best, are the best and will always be the best for every baby.

Best Remedy to Unblock Your Baby’s Nose

With the onset of monsoons, viral infections are on a high. Cold, cough, stomach ache and diarrhoea become common in every household. It is very difficult for a mother to see her baby falling sick due to these. Children become cranky all day and are unable to sleep at night. This is a very painful sight for a mother.

During monsoons, when the weather becomes cooler, children also suffer from blocked nose. Children get extremely cranky because of the discomfort caused due to nasal congestion. Both the bacteria and viruses are there all through the year but they become more active during the rainy season. There could be many reasons for the increased viral infections and common colds during this time – the cold, the growth of germs in stagnant water, mixing of clean and infected water and decreased immunity.

How Nasal Congestion Affects Babies?

1)    Obligatory nose breathers

Babies who are less than 1 year of age are obligatory nose breathers which means that they can only breathe through their nose. When they suffer from Nasal congestion, they have difficulty breathing.

2)    Mental and physical growth

Chronic nasal congestion leads to mouth breathing. Mouth breathing disrupts our natural body mechanics and adversely affects other bodily functions.

3)    Food intake of toddlers

Toddlers are obligatory nose breathers. With a blocked nose, they use their mouth to breathe. When they are eating food they find it difficult to breathe. A blocked nose also affects their hunger since they cannot smell or taste the food.

4)     Kids become highly cranky and restless due to nasal congestion.

What are the symptoms of nasal congestion in children below 6 years of age?

1)    The nose is runny and drooling all the time.

2)    You can hear a whistling sound in the breathing of the child.

3)     Nasal congestion leads to snoring while the baby is sleeping.

4)    You will find the child picking up on his nose often.

Best remedies for nasal congestion in babies

  1.    Increase the humidity in the room with the help of a humidifier.
  2.    Increase the intake of liquids and water throughout the day.
  3.    Give steam inhalation to babies to give relief from congestion.
  4.   Put a well squeezed towel soaked in warm water gently on the forehead and around the nose to give warm compress.
  5.    Give a lot of quiet time and rest to recover speedily.
  6.   Give saline solution nasal drops to relieve the nasal blockage.
  7.    For children above 2 years of age, place a pillow under the mattress so that there is an angle with the child’s head higher than the feet. This may help out in draining mucus out of sinusitis.
  8.    Consult a doctor if the blockage persists and take proper medication.

“Dad, I told you I don’t want to get married.”

“Just meet the boy once, after that you can decide whether you want to go ahead or not.”

Knock, Knock…

She opened the door, “Sushant?”

Happy and surprised to see her college best friend, she could not hold herself, “so you are the boy…”

“Ya, it’s all because of your dad. Somehow he got to know that we liked each other and…”

“And I called his parents to talk about you two shy birds. Mr Verma was too happy with the proposal. So? Give me Five!”

#Bar-A-Thon Day 4: Four Corners of the World

It’s a grand ceremony. People from the four corners of the world have gathered here. My father, my mother and all my friends are here. I have made them all proud today. It’s a special day for me for they will honour me with the Param Vir Chakra today.

Neeta, my beautiful wife, looks beautiful as ever holding our baby in her arms. She climbs the stairs to join me on the stage.

I am so happy to see her yet so sad!

How I wish God had given me a few more years to live with her!
